I Do Not Believe In Homicide

Governor Bredesen,

I do not believe that under any circumstances homicide is acceptable.
It has come to my attention that “The death certificate of an executed person lists the cause of death as homicide.” I, as a citizen of Nashville and the state of Tennessee, can not stand silently by and allow homicide to go on, sanctioned by the state, especially in a situation were the person, Philip Workman, is possibly innocent.

I ask that you please grant Clemency to Philip Workman, or at least continue the moratorium until further investigation can be made.

Thank You for your time and wisdom in this decision.

Sincerely,
Ariah Fine

Above is the email I sent to Governor Phil Bredesen, something you should take a moment to do yourself.

If you live in the state of Tennessee, I encourage you to take sometime to listen to and read the story and information concerning Philip Workman and the death penalty. TCASK is a great blog to start with.

Below is an 11 minute video concerning Philip Workman, including testimony of his victim’s daughter, a juror, and the perjured eye witness.

  1. Governor Bredesen,

I urge you to reconsider the decision you have made regarding clemency for Philip Workman. Decisions we make every day affect the lives of countless others around us. I cannot imagine the issues that are put on your desk daily. I do know, however, that the decision to take the life of a man could not be made quickly and easily. As a citizen of Tennessee, I urge you to grant the clemency request for Mr. Workman based not on the question of the morality of death sentences, but on the lack of merit of his conviction.

    Sincerely,
    Lt. Andrew Housholder, USAF

  2. It’s awesome to see other people so passionate about working to end the death penalty. I’ve been working here in NC with PFADP, by joining their mailing list, sending e-mails and contacting government officials. Nice to see you mention here that you’re busy over in TN doing the same thing. đŸ™‚

I’ve recently joined up with a program called “Project Link” and am currently writing to a death row inmate in my state on a regular basis. My life has been blessed in so many ways through this new relationship. I’d encourage you to look into similar programs in your area, Ariah. I think you would love taking part in something like this!!

Anyway…I just mainly wanted to say I appreciate you bringing attention to this story and to the practice of death penalty in general. Blessings to you on this journey! I will keep Philip Workman in my prayers.

    Peace,
    Jamie
