I believe in the power of prayer

I used to pray for the students I worked with everyday, but I’ve been struggling with it lately. I started biking to work with out music playing in my headphones and I’ve had a more contemplative time.

If you don’t mind shouting up some prayers for the boys I work with it would be greatly appreciated.

Web hacks, Greasemonkey and Platypus

So I’ve got to find some good web hacking folks to help me out with some things. I’ve got these ideas but I have no idea how to implement them. Here are a few:

  • A button (like a bookmarklet) that opens ALL the links on a page at once.
  • A one click button that sends the URL of the page I’m looking at to my brother’s email
  • a fancier “find in a page tool” with the wonderful k* wildcard option
  • I’m wondering if many people who read this are going to be interested or understand at all what I’m talking about.

I’ve been having an AMAZING time trying out Platypus on Firefox. For example I was annoyed with the setup of the Xanga look and feel page so I changed it. I took out the stuff I don’t use and widened the boxes I do.

    Can you see the difference?

If your interested in stuff like this email me and I’ll try and help get you started.

Biofuels bad?

I haven’t read the whole article but it’s got me a little worried.
I just found out about someone who is going to be making biofuels in Nashville which gets me really excited about finding a diesel car.

I think the article is talking more about the mass consumerism of it, specifically in Europe. Would it be possible to meet the mass demand with only recycled materials for the fuel (i.e. used vegetable oil, etc.)?

Read away and let me know what you think:

It’s hard to write when nobody is listening

So I’ve been sporadically writing in this blog (maybe that’s my problem) for a while now. Seems like I get a writing bug and then I lose it again. There could be some solution but I’m not sure what it is.

But when I stopped writing for a while no one dropped a line asking why I wasn’t writing. When I started posting there was no “missed reading your blog post” type comments.

I mean isn’t the whole point of blogging about interaction, communication, feedback? Guess we’re too busy for each other.

If your out there thanks, I appreciate you even in your silence.

firefox 1.5

Here it comes folks. I’ve been using firefox for a couple of years now and let me say there is NO going back. There are one million amazing things I could tell you about it, but you’ll just have to believe me and see for yourself.

Today they launched Firefox 1.5 and they are going to make a BIG marketing push, so you won’t just be hearing this from me. Be on the look out for some convincing arguements or just believe me and download it.

Social Awareness Saturdays

So, I had a good talk with a dude from the church I’ve been going to about the need for raising social awareness. I’d mentioned this before, but this time he was more interested in helping me make something happen. So I said give me some space and a Video Projector and I’ll do the rest.

I’m not much of a partyer on the weekends anyways, so I’m quite interested in the idea of doing a movie showing EVERY Saturday night (starting after Christmas I think), and having a discussion afterwards. I’m sure there are enough documentaries out there to keep us interested, but I need to start compiling a list so here goes nothing.

  • Sometimes in April
  • The Corporation
  • Farhenhiet 9/11 and Farenhype 9/11
  • Fog of War
  • Born into Brothels
  • Lost Boys of Sudan
  • The Take
  • Merchants of Cool
  • The Control Room
  • The Color of Fear
  • Walmart: The High Cost of Low Prices
  • Hugo Chavez documentary
  • I’m sure there’s tons more but that’s what I got right off the top of my head.
Maybe some more fiction ones too.

T-shirts anyone?

So, listen up everyone: I’ve got about 200 t-shirts in my closet (new, not my old ones or anything), and I desperately want to get rid of them. I’m willing to give them away slowly if your nice.

The shirt designs are posted at: http://iamnotashamed.net and you can email me at ariah@iamnotashamed.net and let me know which ones you want.

If you want one I can ship it to you or you can just come get it from me. Honestly take these shirts please!

What a whirlwind

So, I got bored and decided it was time to enter more into the web world and join many of my friends on facebook, myspace, and a few other sites. I couldn’t do a normal myspace so I had to spend a bit of time tweaking it to my preferences. Of course, that meant updating this site as well. Now I have a few other things I want to mess with before I’m truely satisfied. What I desperately need to do is to change http://iamnotashamed.net to something different then just a boring t-shirt page. Anyone want to buy a t-shirt?

Black Friday

I guess the term is about retailers getting out of the “red” and into the “black” as in profit, but it seems like it’s more of a foreshadowing on what a dark and sad day this day is.

I’m sorry but Friday seemed more like a day for a funeral then anything else in my mind. $400 laptops at Walmart and you can forget about any concerns for world poverty or whether the price is due to inhumane business practice. Let me be really clear: I was quite tempted to do some shopping myself on Friday, I’m not really talking about other people.

I didn’t look for any video footage or news about shoppers getting trampled, but I’m sort of afraid I’d start to cry if I saw it. I think back to the types of comments you heard in response to news of people rioting and fighting in New Orleans after Katrina and I wonder. Don’t you wonder?
