  1. It's interesting to me that my grandma lives this way as it was the way she was raised. My mom did much the same. We always had leftovers and she canned tomatoes and corn. I never learned to can but I do make leftovers. Since we live in an apartment, I don't have a way to compost but I so want to. Most of this just seems like common sense from which we've somehow fallen away. I often wish there was a way for me and my husband to share our meals since what I make is usually too much for just the 2 of us. I am praying for community for many reasons but this one primarily.

  2. I read a few days ago that enough food is grown/produced to feed EACH PERSON in the world an average of 2700+ calories a day. Not just the adults… adults AND kids. Yet instead, we have 1 billion people in the world who go hungry each day, 1 billion people who are obese, and this much food waste. What a difference it could make if we all started being a little more intentional about our food, and much less selfish. Perhaps we should all have to go back to growing our own food for a year… or even a month… I bet that would substantially change how we do things…
