I’m terribly afraid of where my name came from

I know my parent’s told me my name is Hebrew and it mean’s “God has promised,” but I really worry after discovering this poster that they maybe made up the Hebrew thing…

Ariah

  1. 1 Chronicles 6:7
Meraioth the father of Amariah, Amariah the father of Ahitub,

Ariah – an americanized shortened version of Amariah (which appears 14 times in the old testament, one example above) was not made up by anyone’s parents. Maybe shortening it was not approved by any rabbinical counsel, but who gives Thomas the right to call himself Tom, or how did Jack ever become short for John. (do you think Ms would be added more to Amariah?)
Lets better assume that this musical group made up the name and that Ariah’s parents acted in love.

  2. One second glance – I think some of these band members look Jewish.
    – – – – – Now I remember, these are the same guys that played at Sarah’s Bat Mitzvah!
They were a Klezmer band back then!
