haka: Talk about intimidation factor

Because everyone should know what the Haka is:

From
Haka – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The haka is often described as a “war dance”, but it is more correctly a chant with hand gestures and foot stamping, originally performed by warriors before a battle, proclaiming their strength and prowess in order to intimidate the opposition. The haka may be understood as a kind of symphony in which the different parts of the body represent the many instruments. The hands, arm, legs, feet, voice, eyes, tongue and the body as a whole combine to express courage, annoyance, joy, or whatever feelings are relevant to the occasion.

  1. when britt and i were on the Wave USA tour our leader, frank, was from new zealand and he taught us the haka. it is very intimidating but he always did it with such grace. it was as if the Lord had given his people this warrior heart for everything. during prayer he would sometimes do the haka to remind the enemy that his heart belonged to God and if satan wanted to tempt him he had better just take him ’cause things would get ugly when a warrior had a heart for God.

i am going to post this today as it flloded me with good feelings and loaded my arms with goose bumps. oh, and yes….it is definitely intimidating!

  2. It brought back some great rugby memories of when the All Blacks did their dance at every rugby game. Funnily enough they won most of their games. Perhaps the dance really works. Great blog, thanks.
